Have been bumping into threads around the net with the following phrase ...
This release occurs last week July, with values being passed through by August. The magnitude of price to performance seems to be the envy of any computer user ... very fast for very cheap.
Could one of our resident builders enlighten us in what they hope to see in the upcoming months. I'm not looking for "this mobo/cpu/socket" is better than that one, but more general understandings. Could you possible validate statements like the following ...
The slowest of Core2 will run circles around the fastest of todays single core for one-fourth to two-third the cost. Your thoughts / insights would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

Hmmmm......... it seems that Core2 is going to be doing a number on AMD AM2
CPU's this time around. I hate to see that happen being an AMD man myself
but I'm sure AMD will catch back up to Intel pretty soon and if not then I might
have to jump ship and go over to the dark side (Intel);)

    More can be found here.

In my book, this bodes well for all concerned but as mentioned above, retail street prices for the Conroe could be a totally different story. As to everything else - it looks like it might be time to start paring down inventories and saving some money in anticipation of some very good deals later this year. I too am an AMD guy, and while I won't be jumping ship any time soon, I'll be anxiously awaiting their next move. What we all have to hope for is that Intel can actually pull this off on a production scale - they've had more then their share of missteps and false starts during the last couple of years.

    ;)
