I travel weekly between 2 differnt office so I have to use to seperate networks. My problem is that "My Network Places" generally doesnt update. So when I come back to my main office and connect to the wireless network I see all the network resources from the other network I was on. I tried refreshing but it doesnt help. Can anyone suggest a way to fix this or suggest a third party network browser that may be a bit more reliable? If its any help, If I map a network drive on my main network, then connect to the network and another office, My network drives generally dont work when I go back to my main office.

    Thanks all!

My Network Places is reallyyy slow at updating.

    Two ways.
1> If know name of computer want to connect to: just open up IE and type it in address bar with a \\ - (\\computer name).

2>Open up MyNetwork places – Entire Network – Microsoft Windows Network
At this point should see network name – open it up and should show all computers on network.
Right click and drag them out to create shortcut on desktop.
    Use the shortcuts.

Second one is 1 I use.
    Either method will instantly work.

Maybe someone knows of another way.

Thats the odd part. After I come back to my main office I cant type the \\ OR use entire network because I get a "Is not accesible, you may not have permission blah blah blah" error ". But then magicly a few days later it dissapears.

    Oh
Assessable/permission is a different problem then I was looking at.
Just thought Network Neighborhood was slow.

The magical part is a bit strange and probably significant.
Just don’t know significance of it.
Two different networks "“ have to belong to each group and you’re switching between them.

Check that your computer is getting IP from router or somewhere in both places.

Open up Control Panel "“ Network Connections "“ Local Area Connection "“ Support Tab
Address Type should say: Assigned by DHCP
IP Address AND Default Gateway should have same first 3 sequences of letters.
    192.123.11.xxx 192.123.11.xxx

Workgroup name also has to match the network you’re on.
Start- Control Panel "“ System "“ Computer Name Tab-

Your wireless card might have software that can alter things but start by checking those settings.

Also check that NetBIOS over TCP enabled on laptop.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318030/en-us

Any firewalls you have should accept both networks.

Shot gunning here n thinking of all obvious things.

    ps
While thinking of all obvious problems "“ just thought of another 1 with wireless.

Make sure computer is connecting to right network "“ someone nearby might have a stronger signal that laptop is trying to connect to.
    ;)
