    I've been working on an old computer running Win98SE that has a line of 7 C: prompts on the boot screen. I used to know how to clean this up, but can't remember, nor can I seem to Google a fix for this. Does anyone remember the procedure or have a link to a fix for this? It's not a problem....just another one of those burrs under my saddle. ;) Thanks for any replies.

    May be caused by a bunch of blank lines in the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Might try:
    • adding an
      @echo off
      as the first line

    • and/or delete any blank lines

    • or delete (or temporarily rename) the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file

      (Most Win98 setups don't really need it or the C:\CONFIG.SYS file).

    Or add CLS to the autoexect.bat to "clear screen. "

    Thanks, guys...I think the echo off was what I used before. I appreciate the quick replies.
