    I'm going nuts.
I have XP Pro. Just had to do a reinstall.
And had to reinstall all the programs as well.
I have a number of toolbar helpers installed:
Yahoo, Google, UltraEdit & Norton Antivirus/firewall

I keep hearing a "bubble plop" when explorer typically opens a page.
Sounded like a pop-up blocker, so I disabled the pop-up and ad blocker in Norton and the popup blocker in Explorer. (couldnt find an ad blocker or any sound settings within explorer)

    Still heard the sound.
So I went into Tools | Manage Addons and disabled everything

    Still heard the sound.
I went into control pannel and checked all the sounds. None of them sound like the "bubble plop" i hear.

    Any ideas?

Also, how do I permanently get rid of the tool bar "helpers "?

Did you look in the Yahoo tool bar to see if it has a popup blocker? I know that Google does.
Look in your Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and see if you have any tool bars. You can also try right clicking on a blank space in the tool bar in IE (on the right side end of the bar that has Back, Forward and the others in it) and see if there is any listed. If so, take the check out of them and see if it still happens.
    P.S.
    Welcome to the boards.

    Ok - still have sounds.
I now went into control panel and eliminated the tool bars - Google, ULEDIT.

    Just straight explorer.
I am running Norton in the background, but it has ad-blocking and popup blocking OFF.

    So, I'm open to suggestions....
The bubble popping is driving me crazy...

See if you can identify the .wav file which makes that sound. Search your drive for *.wav - right click on each > Play. When you hear the sound you are looking for check out the file location - should give you a clue as to which program it is associated with.
