Hi....During the past week, my homepage takes about 90 secs to load. Originally, I had IE6 installed, but lost it when I tried to 'repair' it. As a substitute, I installed IE7 and Firefox. The page loads faster with Firefox, but OE takes a long time to respond and open if I make Firefox the default browser. If at startup, I use IE7 first, the homepage page still takes a long time to load, but OE loads fast. Firefox seems to work not too badly, but there are a few sites that it can't open.
Out of frustration, I did a system restore, without success. I installed 'TweakDUN' and 'optimized' my computer. I always run my spyware, malware and antivirus utilities. I tried to restore the hosts file, but I get a 'Run time error '70'. Permission denied.' message. I'm at a loss what to do and what I did wrong that caused this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

Have you scanned for malware and such?
Does your homepage have a ton of graphics/pictures and animation?
WHat happens if you chnage your homepage to a different site?

Sorry to take so long to answer... I usually run programs that remove/check for spyware and malware on a daily basis. My homepage does have some pictures, but no animation. None of these things have changed before the problem started. I tried a new homepage and it takes about the same amount of time to load.

The more I think about my problem, the more I believe that IE 7 is not able to connect to the internet, where as, Firefox can. Are there any solutions to the IE problem?

Try changing it to www.google.com as it should load in about 1 or 2 seconds as there is really not much to load on it.

    Code:
WHat happens if you chnage your homepage to a different site?
I'll come in on this question as that is just the problem I am having.
Currently the homepage is locked into www.ninemsn.com.au even though I set www.tpg.com.au as default.

Haven't had this problem previously......so the ? is what is required to overcome this.

    Thanks
    roy

I just tried having www.google.com as my home page and there was no change in the time. Once I get connected to the internet, everything works fine and I can access websites etc. quickly. Something is preventning IE from connecting to the internet!!!
