I have a file that I have a Header on. It should only be one page however though I have not typed anything onto Page 2 the Header automatically appears there and when I go to print the Header prints on a blank Page 2. I only need to print Page 1! I have tried to go to the end of Page 1 and hit delete, I have also tried to go to the beginning of Page 2 and backspace to Page 1 as to get rid of this blank Page 2. Neither works...
I thought I had figured this out in the past and now I can't remember please help.
    Thank you!!:)

What you describe is the default behavior in Word - for some control over Headers and Footers go to Page Setup > Layout and for more info look in the Help file :)

To solve your current problem File > Print and check Current Page.

    Thank you PeteC
I forgot all about that Current Page option. I have tried the Help in Word and well...it didn't help. Thanks again! :) C*

Header or Footer on first page only

To have the header (or footer) show on the first page only, create the header on the first page then go to File>Page Setup>Layout tab and in the section "Headers and Footers" put a check mark in the "Different first page" box. This will only allow the header on the first page and the remaining pages will be blank (ie no header).

    JohnB,
I noticed this did not work on my Word97 as you have it stated. BUT I did find that when the Header info showed up on Page 2...if one selected View/Header and Footer while viewing Page 2, then deleting the Page 2 Header info, Page one header was still available and all subsequent pages did not have any Header present.

Hi indreed, I tried that and it deleted both pages' Headers. (??) I did check the different first paragraph box in the Layout option of Page Setup BEFORE I typed in my header, and that worked. Thanks everyone for your help. C*
