Can anyone tell me if there is any way to transfer files from my old computer to my new one without using the transfer wizard. To create a transfer wizard a floppy drive is needed which my new computer doesn't have. It also did not come with a Windows XP cd. I have the computers networked together. Thanks for any help.

Pixis - Welcome to the Board :)

If you have the computers networked just copy your data files from one to another - otherwise burn to DVD/CD.

Settings are rather more tricky and you will probably need to set up some of these again. However ....

    Internet Explorer ....

For Internet Explorer export your Favourites and Cookies to a known location on the new computer and import from there.

I would just place the pc next to each other, open the cases and connect the old hdd power and ide to the new pc and turn only the NEW pc on. Now the "old" hdd should work as if it were in the new pc and You can easily and very fast access and transfer the files without setting up os or networking.

Use static precautions etc., no warranties ;) But I did that several times without problems when I had bought a new pc.

Edit: I just figured You probably just meant Your settings and not much data in form of files. Then this method would probably be too complicated for that purpose.
