I Found this forum buy searching as I have the same problems on 2 seperate clients Pc's, which I haven't resolved as yet. where I think I can help with the permissions settings. In explorer under tools, folder options, View, if you scroll down you will find a tab called use simple file sharing, unchecking this will give you your permissions settings under sharing.

I hope that can help you a bit. It did not help me much as all the sharing looks right.

I hope someone can come up with something to fix this without reloading windows as because it being clients machines reloading might be difficult.

I first thought it to be a home/Pro issue as the Home pc could c but not access the Pro Pc. But with the second case the pc not accessable is a XP Pro again but from 3 differant pc's Home, Pro and Windows 2000Pro.
    Need Help Pls......

IP's are right Usernames and passwords on both Pc's aswell still no luck

    Hi Scottsman,

    Welcome to the BBS.

"Simple file sharing" has always been unchecked. I told Reggie back in post #10 that I was unable to access permissions under Sharing and Security, but I was looking for a Permissions tab on each partition's Properties sheet, not a button on the Sharing tab. I just checked, though, and all partitions on both computers have full Share Permissions. That's why I'm inclined to believe it must be a Registry problem, as I think we've looked everywhere else.

    Welcome Scottsman,

I've seperated your post out from the Other computer on LAN not accessible thread as I think it might get lost in amongst our efforts to get Jim sorted, and I think your post deserves treatment on its own.

Can you give us a few more details of the problem you are having? Presumably your problem is similar to Jim's in that you cannot browse to the other PC. So:
    • Can you see the other computers in Network Neighbourhood?
    • Can you access them via \\computername?
    • Can you access them via \\IPaddress?
    • Do you get a specific error when you try to connect to the other PCs shares?
    • And my favourite question of the minute: what node type are the systems being shown as when you do a IPCONFIG /ALL at the command prompt?
