First thanks to all who have helped me so far! Now can someone please tell me why suddenly when computer first starts up and it shows the users why it says I have 8 messages? It had said how many I had in outlook and how many I had in hotmail. I have cleared them all and It still says I have 8 messages. This just started yesterday after a week of this computer. I am using XP.

    Edit as follows:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

If you prefer, you can use TweakUI to disable this feature.

Sorry - I was talking about editing the registry. If you want to try this, but don't know how, I (or somebody else) will post some instructions.

It may though be easier just to use TweakUI/PowerTools to disable the feature. You can download from here:-
