A couple of months ago I noticed that when I insert an Audio CD, Media Player would not open. If I started Media Player by double clicking the Icon and then Insert the audio cd, the Media Player would automaticly start to play the CD. Program CD's autostart just fine. I noticed this problem shortly after one of the Windows Updates and also maybe related to Quick Time which was also installed about this time. This is Windows ME system. Also the file extension CDA is set to Open with Windows Media Player. Any sugestions welcomed.

    Hello olduser,

Click on My Computer, click on the CD drive.

Right click on properties, click on the Autoplay tab.

Click on the Restore defaults button.

    Regards - Charles

This is Windows ME. There is NO Autoplay Tab under Drive properties or anywhere else that I could find.

    Hi olduser,

Ok, its been long time since ME for me.

Once there is another player, this happens. Does QT start automatically or just nothing?

Bring up WMP and tools > options > and in the file type tab, is the "playback music CD's" checked?

    Regards - Charles

Yes, All were checked except for AAIF. Then I un-checked "Play back Music CD's, clicked OK, closed WMP, opened WMP and the "Playback Music CD's" box was dark grey. I clicked it anyway and it stayed clicked, clicked OK, closed WMP and put a music CD in the player. Wahlah it worked WMP opened and autoplayed the tracks. I suppose the dark grey box means that something else prefers to do the task, but what ever it was it didn't do it. If there was another way to play .MOV files from my camera I would certinaly do away with QT.

    Thanks for your help...
