DSL Problems

Has anyone ever heard of folks with DSL connections having problems accessing sites that use ActiveX and Java to load? The only way they can access these sites is to use Dial Up first and then switch over to DSL. If anyone knows of a solution I would appreciate hearing from you.

That's really strange.

Are they using the same web browser for both dial-up and DSL,
with only 1 of them having Java and Active X controls enabled?

What ISP are they using?

Yes the browser is the same, Internet Explorer, and this problem is occurring with several ISP's. I don't believe that it is a problem with Windows XP but there are too many instances of this happening and that's why I asked.

 

From what you mentioned, i didn't see this is ISP problem but either on modem or dialer problem. my personal opinion as below:

Can I assume the dial-up and DSL using the different modem? if yes, check on the DSL modem, if that have any firewall built-in or security filtering features enable?

Recently i just face the similar problem because of the stupid DSL modem (NOT router, but modem) got firewall/security built-in feature and it block some of the access and application to run.

Second, it could be the DSL dialer and dial-up dialer got firewall or filtering feature enable?

Thought of that but since he could read the site after a dial up connection I didn't think it through enough.

Key was in last post, using same browser for both - browser stores web pages.
So after the dial-up reads n stores the web page the DSL connection just retrives them from computer.
Dial-up connected directly to phone jack by-passing any router and or DSL modem.

So would really suspect Router (if any) and/or DSL modem filtering.

Was just curious if 2 different ISP's - some of them - like AOL will automatically filter things for you depending on settings--- but that went away when same browser was being used for both dial-up n DSL.

Lets hope Sfan get's your suggestion.
