I recently upgraded from Win XP Home to Win XP Pro. With XP Home, my Sandisk Sansa m240 mp3 player was recognized correctly by windows as a portable media device. After I upgraded to XP Pro, windows will not recognize the Sansa as a portable media device - only as a removable USB drive. I can load music files in this manner but cannot use any media software to synchronize music (Napster, Musicmatch, etc.).

    Help!! Thanks.

    Tom

I suggest booting into Safe Mode. Go to Device Manager and see if any removable drive devices are listed and uninstall them. Has any software been installed for the drive? Check in Add/Remove Programs for any Sandisk software and remove it.
When you boot back into normal Windows and before you connect the drive, reinstall the motherboard/chipset drivers from the drivers CD that came with the computer or find a more recent version at the manufacturer's website.

If you still find problems, check whether Sandisk have a firmware update for the drive. Edit: Also check their FAQs and their support forum if they have one.
