I recently re-installed windows XP on my computer. After installation, my computer no longer plays any sound.

On the sounds and audio device properties, it says that there is no audio device.

when I go into the device manager, it says all my devices are working correctly.

It seems that my Legacy Audio Driver is the problem. It says that it is working correctly, but when I check its properties in the device manager, nothing shows up. Other drivers show the media control device. With Legacy, there is nothing there. I have downloaded the device software, but I get an error message that says it cant find the path.

I have checked my system in driveragent.com, and Legacy doesnt even show up in the system summary.

Anyone know whats up or how to fix it.?????

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

What kind of sound card are you using? Is it onboard or have you installed a sound card on the motherboard?

If its onboard, go into BIOS, disable the sound card, reboot into Windows. Shutdown, enable the sound card & boot into Windows. Windows should now find the device & install the drivers for it. If its addon card, remove the card & follow the above procedure.
