Anyone know how to turn off the windows XP boot screen/progress bar. I like seeing what its doing. Also need to pause or slow down the ASCI boot screen so I can read it. I did it on the old 98SE but forgot what I had to do. Likely different now anyway.

    Thanks

    From Kelly's Korner .....

    Boot - Disable Splash Screen

Right click My Computer, select Properties. Go to Advanced, Startup and Recovery, Settings and click the Edit button. Locate the line that loads XP and add /SOS to the end of it. The resulting line should look something like this:

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /SOS

I'm not so sure that there is anything 'behind' it - would be interested to know :)

dem45133--Pretty much what PeteC has said--perhaps a little more detail

I think in Win98 you could turn it off using TweakUI. I cannot find a similar setting in the latest TweakUI for XP.
I remember being very disappointed. There was only a few lines of info and it did not speed anything up.
