my machine is switching over to standby mode on its own. All standby options are turned off in the control panel. this can happen at any time but usually right after booting up. once it is in standby I can't get back out without resetting my machine, rendering it pretty much unusable. The problem doesn't appear when I boot up in safe mode. I also tried removing the mobo battery to reset defaults but it didn't help. Any ideas?

its definitely going into standby. i usually can't even get it out of standby long enough for me to shut down properly before it kicks back into standby again.
