I recently, i suspect very stupidly of me, signed into this website which purports to track who has blocked and delelted you on msn messenger. with it you have to supply your password and email address. although i have changed me password several times since just in case there is remote access is any one aware of potential spyware, viruses etc that this thing may add??? or is it all above board

It's a scam site that usually loads a trojan on your PC. Eventually it will mess with your account(s).

    I would do the following.

    Download, update, run and remove anything they find;

    AdAware

    AdAware tutorial

    SpyBot S&D

    SpyBot tutorial

    Ewido Security Suite

Install ewido security suite. When installing the program, under "Additonal Options" uncheck..
    *Install background guard
    *Install scan via context menu
Launch Ewido, there should now be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
The program will now open to the main screen.
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files:
On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show
the updates being installed. (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful ")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido:
    Ewido manual updates
Once the updates are installed, do the following:
Click on scanner. Click on Complete System Scan, the scan will now begin.
While the scan is in progress you will be promted to clean files, click OK.
When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner
of the box that says "Perform action on all infections ", then choose clean and click OK.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located at the bottom of the screen
named Save Report. Click Save Report.
Now save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Go to control panel/ folder options/ view and select show hidden and system files

Also uncheck "hide file extensions of known file types "

After doing all this post a HJT log in this thread.

    HijackThis 1.99.1

After downloading HijackThis do the following.

Put HijackThis in a Permanent folder.

    Click My Computer, then C:\

    In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.

That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis ".

Now you have C:\HJT\ folder. Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it.

Click the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button.

Notepad will open with the logfile. Copy & paste it here.

This will allow backups to be made and saved By HijackThis in case something goes wrong.

    we removed this using HjT:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Windows uses MSN Search as the default search engine when you type directly into the browser adress bar or use the Search Button. The spyware you had changed the search engine to some spyware search engine. You fixed it but what remained (per your HjT log) was the fact that now there is no default search engine. This is easy to do:
    Click the Search Button.
    Click on "Custom ".
Choose a search engine & follow prompts.
