    Hi,

I am currently looking at all the newer laptops and not familiar as to what components are the best for the best performance.

Has anyone had the experience to compare the AMD Athlon 64 that are in the current laptops to the Centrino or whatever the best processor was???

Also Is the Pentium D ( as in Double duty) processor better than the Pentium 4????

In the past I have not made the best decision as to what components to choose for both PC and Laptop..This time I would like to avoid wasting my meager budget...

If I have to go into debt I would appreciate getting something that will be powerful enough to do everything without finding out later that one or two components aren't up to the tasks I need to do.

Speculation is not really helpful in my situation..Please only first hand experience.

    What is your budget?
What will you be using the notebook for?
If you want to be able to play games, you'll need at least $1500.00 for the notebook...

    Hi Steve,
Thank you for the reply to my post.

Yes, I will be using the laptop for playing games so the more powerful and adaptable it is the better...I would also like to do everything else I do on a regular desktop PC, including web design..
Is there a beefy enough laptop presently available or do I have to buy components and configure it myself???

My budget is going to be a one shot bank loan, so I cannot afford to go into debt for anything that won't be just right.
