How do I prevent XP pro SP3 from automatically disconnecting me from my ISP? I am using a modem to connect to my ISP throught the telephone.

Check settings at Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > Settings button > Advanced button.

Normally it's convenient to allow it to disconnect when no longer needed.

If you are having other disconnect issues, it will likely be due to a poor phone line connection that has noise or a low signal/noise ratio. The phone company will fix that for free. The Call-Waiting service can also cause disconnects.

Interesting... where did you get SP3 from? That's not available from Microsoft

    Arie,

I have seen updates that were offered *after* SP2 listed in various places (not Windows) as SP3. I can't remember exactly where, if I run across it again I'll send you the info.

As soon as I saw "SP3" mentioned, I wondered exactly the same thing.. If I do remember correctly though, I believe I saw on MicroSofts site somewhere that SP3 isn't going to be out until the middle of 2007 though...

    Zander,

That was the first place I looked... none of my updates have service pack information listed. They have the 'kb' number, but that's it.

Microsoft labels post SP2 patches as SP3.

Below is a detail of Belarc's list of post SP2 MS patches on my system.

That still doesn't mean you 'have' SP3 :D

True, and that's where the confusion comes from I think.
