Computer does a bluescreen on scandisk.

    Goday all,

Hard-drive crashed recently, and had a new C:/ drive installed last week. My D:/ Drive is about four-teen months old.

Have just done a fresh install of Windows ME from my Gateway setup discs with the following programs.

    Soundforge 6
    Cool edit 2000
    Adobe Audition 1.0
    Microsoft office 2000 corporate
    Word
    Publisher
    Excel
    Powerpoint
    Outlook
    Corel Graphics Studio 11
Adobe Suite, the one before CS1

    Computer in question.

    Gateway Performer 1700
    Pentium 4
    640 Meg Memory
    C:/ drive 130 GB - D:/ 80 GB
SONY DRU 820 Internal DVD Burner
    TDK Velo CD Burner internal
    Delta 66 internal Sound Card

Computer is mainly used for making audio cd masters and CD covers.

Operate programs on C drive and seems to work fine.

Disk defrag worked fine on both drives but worked slower on D:\ drive

Sound forge on C: drive plays audio wav file on D: drive. Audio skips every now and then.. Same problem in Adobe Audition.

All problems seem to be consistant to my D: drive going out. Can A hardrive already go after just one year. Use of the drive has been moderate.

Here are the details of the blue screen.

    Computer boots up fine.

Open programs > accessories > system tools > Scan disk.

Dialog box is there for a few seconds. Then I get the following blue screen message:

    An error has occurred

    FILE NAME: VWIN32(05) 00000BF4 ERROR : 0E : 0028 : C02A3DCC

I then press a key then get my desktop back. with a dialog box with the following message,

Scandskw has caused an error in USER.EXE
    Scandisk will now close

When I got to the shutdown screen which shows the dropdown menu "shut down" "restart" and "stand by ". I choose shut down.

Desktop comes back with the following error.

rundll32 has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL.
    kernel32 will now close.

I then have to do a CNTRL-ALT-DEL to reboot, then after a soft new boot-up, I can then turn computer off.

Can somebody please tell me if it's a software problem or a hardware problem. I quite sure it's my D: drive, but just want that conformation before I disconnect it all, and take it for that 90 minute trip to North Sydney for another repair job.

    Many Thanks

    Mark

    Thanks Whiskeyman

Yep, it is a nvidia geforce2 MX 100/200

I've turned eView off in start up through the wizard. The bluescreen has disappeared

I still get the "scandskw" error message, because I still have to change something in the nvidia 3D desktop utility, which I can't seem to find anywhere.

Went in the "right-click" properties, and going through all the tabs, I can't seem to find anything on nvidia 3D desktop utility. It's there somewhere, but with so many tabs and boxes, I've most probably missed it.

With partial vision loss, could someone please tell me what tab to look under.

I get the following tabs after right clicking properties > settings > advanced.

    ------ colour management ------ Nvidia GeForce 2 MX 100/200 ------ eView
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ----- General ------ adapter ------ monitor ------ performance -------

    thanks

Look for a nvidia icon by the clock or look in Control Panel.
