    Hello,
I have searched high and low for an answer to this problem with no luck,
    here is my problem:
Neither AVI or Mini files will play in Windows Media Player or my creative jukbox. I get this error box with WMP:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

I am using windows xp service pack 2 media edition with all of the most recent updates,
I have dual processor 3.2 mh and 4 gb ram.

All was working fine until a few weeks ago, in addition my Internet Explorer
    will not play audio files.

I have a Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) sound card soundblaster 2zs

Here is all what I have tried with no success
I was using WMP version 10, so I upgraded to the beta 11
I uninstalled the sound card creative program and drivers, and reinstalled them
    again.
In Control panel I have checked the sounds and audio devices for errors,
I found none, in the midi playback device I tried all options available, I tried
Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth and left it at that.
I downloaded Winamp Lite and still nothing, I bought the Winamp Pro and
it will play midi and wav files, however wmp and creative will still not play midi or wav. When windows starts up and shut down I do hear the sounds.
I did a diagnostic test with the creative software, and it says all is good,
I did a diagnostic test with Direct X and all passed including all sounds, which I heard. I updated direct x still nothing. Even though I now have winamp playing midi and wav files it still is driving me crazy why creative and WMP will not play these two formats. I would be very grateful if someone can come-up
    with a solution.
    Thanks for hearing me out.
    Frank

thanks for the suggestion, I failed to mention that I also installed new codecs
    with no success.
