When i install ME on the new hard drive it installs fine. But right at the end when it configures and detects hard ware it stalls then gives me a blue screen saying cant write to hard drive. I can install XP on it fine. I can install ME on another hard drive, ide, but ME will not install on my new SATA 10000 rpm hard. I need ME installed. thanks randy

Never actually tried installing Win9x on a SATA hard drive so not sure of the issues here, but I have had Win98 running fine from SATA drives, but I cloned them there rather than installing directly and I use a boot manager that may also be compensating for SATA issues – don’t know.

What I do know is that if your hard drive is over 137gigs in size then ME won’t like it.

Well i removed all addon cards in my pc, modem, sound card and unplugged my printer. I went in bios and loaded fail safe settings and it installed perfect. Boy am i glad. Been trying for ever. The reason i run ME, i am a gamer. ME gives me alot better ping than XP. ALot more stable with online gaming. ALot less dropped connections. Where i live all i can get is dialup and satelite. Well satelite isnt good for gaming. DSL and cable will not come down my road. I live 3 miles from both. If anyone knows any other alternatives let me know. If anyone knows why XP has poor dialup ping with me please let me know. Thanks. Randy

Plus i run AMD 64 bit 3200+ cpu. I have to run it in 32 bit seeing ME doesnt support 64 bit. If anyone knows away around this i would appriciate it also. My specs are; Epox 9NDAj motherboard. AMD 64 bit 3200+ cpu. Nvidia 6800 Ultra 256 meg video card. 1 gig of corsair low lat memory. 500 watt power supply. Thanks. Randy

Can’t help you with any of the other stuff Randy. If your hard drive is over 137gigs then you will have trouble with corrupted data in ME. If you can don’t make the ME partition more than 135gigs from the start of the drive and you may be ok. With Win98 everything seemed fine until I started to read/write data to sectors over the 137gig mark.
