My daughter was listening to music online yesterday when the BSD occurred. The original message listed the fault as IdeChnDr.sys with the fault codes (I can't find the piece of paper with the codes). Online search said to reboot the computer in Safe Mode and remove the Intel IDE Accelercator program; however, the computer will not reboot. Later online checks said that the ram memory might be at fault (nope, no change). I got the machine to boot using the XP CD but couldn't come up with the administrative password for the recovery utility. Installed second XP OS on machine and it booted but when attempting to boot with the original OS, it won't boot. Error message is: IdeChnDr.sys address F7786E3E base at F7783000 DateStamp 3bd89c65. Error codes: 0X000000D1 (0x00000003, 0X00000005, 0X00000000, 0XF7786E3E) OS is XP Home SP2. Have I got a hard drive going bad or is something else causing the problem? How can I get the machine to boot with the original OS?

    Thanks,

    Doug
