Using a win2k pro system in a peer-to-peer network. The win2k pro system acts as a file server. The network is made up of 20-25 Win95, Win98 and Win2k pro machines. We would like to share this win2k pro system (folder C:\) with more than 10 concurrent users. Win2k pro limits the number of concurrent users to 10. Any help/comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You'll probably have to upgrade to 2000 server.

There was originally talk of a registry hack as Pro and Server use the same code but never saw proof of this

Put in Server and have done with it as previously stated

And as a safety precaution, you should strongly consider putting the shared files somewhere not requiring you to give everyone access to C:\ on the "file server ".

Even if everyone on the network is benign and well behaved, accidents happen.

    hmmmm

If financial reasons are part of why this workstation is basically acting as a server you may want to consider looking at a clarkconnect linux machine. I haven't tested it but my understanding is it works great as a file server to various windows clients.
