Hi all. I have a bit of a weird problem. I got a microphone so that me and my mate could talk to each other on MSN as it is much quicker than typing. I started it up today and started a conversation with him and he noticed he could hear himself and sometimes in a robotic voice. We also have found out that if I am playing something on my PC, for example, a song or video, he will be able to hear it too! This hasn't happened before, it's normally just been able to hear each others voice, not what they are doing on the PC. I can't hear what he does, but he can me. Any ideas? I have tried re-installing MSN, and re-booting but it's still the same. Oh, and it's a head set mic.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!!

Firstly, go to your control panel and open up your sound options
When loaded, click advanced to load the controls. Then click Options > Properties > Recording then OK.
When the controls appear, just put a check in the "Microphone" box

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,

Do you turn off your speakers when talking to him? If not, he'll hear himself talking in a delayed sense. Also, he'd hear anything else that comes from your speakers if you're to close to them with the mic. So, if you're using a head set, try turning off the speakers while you're talking to him.

You could also try turning down the sensitivity of your mic in the recording applet. Double click on the speaker icon in the system tray, click options>properties and select recording, then click ok. Then slide the slider bar for the mic down a bit. You can experiment with it a bit. Obviously, if you turn it down too far your friend won't be able to hear you. But you may be able to find a level where he can hear you fine but doesn't hear the speakers.
