    Ramona,

Took your advice and once everything was installed properly I love it. It screams, and better yet...NO AOL!! The questions I have are little ones.

1.) On NS7.2 there was a way that I could make the e-mail come up automatically when I opened the browser. I can't seem to find that button to select anywhere.

2.) Can you give me any advice on possibly syncing my Dell Axiom Pocket PC using MS ActiveSync. I know it uses ActiveX, but I was just curious.

3.) Finally, do you have any audio problems playing QT .mov files streaming off the web? My audio won't play at all, even after downloading the QT Alternative from SourceForge. I noticed there were a lot of threads on Apple's QT forum complaining of the same issue. My RA and WMA files play fine.

    Thanks,
    gplea

Firefox and Thunderbird are separate programs. Standalones, as they call them. This is the way Internet Explorer and Outlook Express work, and, most people like it that way. Of course, there are people who prefer to have everything available at once. But, is there any difference between opening mail from Netscape7.2 from opening Thunderbird from Firefox using the envelope icon which you can get from view|toolbars|customize|drag and drop envelope icon to
the Menu bar? Or using the Thunderbird icon in the Taskbar? You cannot look at two windows at the same time, so you have to do an extra click anyway.
But, if you prefer to have an all in one, there the more up to date seamonkey 1.0.1.
    I don't have a clue above question 2.
As for question three, could you post a link. Which version QT are you using?
The latest is v.7.1. However, I have no occasion to play .mov files in over six months, so, I don't know if it is a new issue or not.
Of course, you know more than we know, because I have not even seen the thread in the Apple users' site.

    Hello gplea,

The usual causes for audio files streaming from the web problem are likely to be one of the followings...
    1. the file type association, i.e. the setting of using which application to handle a certain type of media file. (client's end)
To me knowledge, all media players are trying to take over other media player's file types.
    2. the version of media player (client's end)
The media author might use a newer codec that only be playable by a newer version of QuickTime/Real/Windows Media Player
    3. firewall, port blocking, or internet connection (client's end)
It is worth a try to open up the ports used for streaming. (make sure port 554 is open.) Also, you might have a fast internet connection, but connection to server might be bad.
    4. server's incorrect setting or bad configuration (author's problem)
    5. server too busy (maximum concurrent connections reached?) (author's problem)
    6. bad HTML coding, e.g. wrong specification of application or tags (author's problem)

Would you mind showing us the page to the audio file that you have problem with?
