I purchased office 2003 from a download website. The files are .exe file. Once you download it, you open up the file and click on the install exe file. Yet, when I try to install the software. I try to install the software, I get this message. I also get this message when I try to uninstall the software from the add/remove on Windows XP Professional. Here is the Message:

THIS PATCH PACKAGE COULD NOT BE OPENED. VERIFY THAT THE PATCH PACKAGE EXISTS, AND THAT YOU CAN ACCESS IT. OR CONTACT THE APPLICATION VENDOR TO VERIFY THAT THIS IS A VALID WINDOWS INSTALLER PATCH PACKAGE.

I hope that somone can help me with this. I was thinking that it is a registry problem. Or that maybe my administrator obtions have been changed some kind of way. There is no one else using this computer but me. I'm runing everything as the administrator, yet changed it to my name Tim.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Tboy,

Where did you purchase Office2003 as a download? This may be part of the problem. Advise.

I purchased it from a site called: Download Center. But I cannot uninstall it either from add/remove either. Here is the link. What are your thoughts?

I tried to access that website, but you need to register to enter. I've never seen msOffice offered for sale as a download. The download would be huge. I'm wondering if this is a reputable download site. Office normally sells for around $150.00usd (for the Student/Teacher version) to $400.00 to $500.00 (for the Pro and Small Business versions). I would be curious as to what version you purchased and how much it was (you don't have to tell if you don't want to).
Maybe someone else on the BBS knows something about this 'Download Center'.

    Installing Software

Well, I was told to run this windows fix. it actually worked. Yet, I have to ask this. When your installing a certain software. it starts going through the process. Then it just stops in the middle of installing. The message is, that windows cannot continue the install, then it starts sending windows information. Can anyone think of why this would happen? Oh, here is the first fix that I got. It really works.
