Sorry Liam, unfamiliar with Media Center.

If you do end up installing the OS again, this time create a OS only partition and a data partition. At the top of this section, Christer posted a thread on how to move the My Documents folders which is user data to the non OS partition.

Worth doing because what makes re installing so painful is the wipe of the data. You can also then use drive imaging on the OS partition and use standard backup procedures for the user data.

    Regards - Charles

    Thanks for your reply Charles

I think i will leave it a few days to see if i have any more replies before reformatting...

As for the My documents suggestion on a different partition/drive - i have already done this for a few years now... :D It's just all the programs, settings etc that is the real pain. All i need to backup is my firefox favourites and my outlook data file :D

    Thanks again!

    Liam

    Good for you :)

You don't know how many posts I've seen where the poster needs to re install but it becomes a catastrophe because they never backed up their stuff, especially archived E-mails.

I'll have a try at reading into the information (ha ha :) ).

Eshell is part of a program or tool called Emac. It is having a problem reading an instruction (they give an example "List" this may be being read as "Lisp ", ha ha again :D ). Emac may be part of a larger program.

I doubt Emac will be part of Windows. Probably something you have downloaded and installed or possibly a software install. It may work fine with Win XP, but not with MC.

Be careful when you reinstall third party programs.

    Matt
    Edit: Emac...mac...your Ipod?
