I was down loading from HP there Help & Support to the desk top during
the down load a pop up said that the down load could not be installed do
you want to uninstall it I clicked Yes to ununstall, it uninstalled it. Now
when I go to click Start to open Windows Help and Support Center it
wont open it pops up with Windows cannot open Help and Support Center
because a system service is not running. pop up screen help.exe says
that Windows cannot find help ctr .exe it also has a Red circle with
a X in it and a code #2147219706. How can I get Help and Support
Center to Open like it should.

Thanks, hope someone can find the cure.

sotsr - Welcome to the Board :)

You will need to reinstall Help & Support ....

In Windows Explorer click on Tools > Folder Options > View tab and check 'Show hidden files and folders' and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'.

To reinstall Help and Support navigate to C:\Windows\inf\pchealth.inf. Right click and choose install. Have your CD handy.

Go to Start > Run and type services.msc <enter> and when the Services Applet opens, scroll down to Help and Support, double click it and change the setting to "Automatic" in the Start Up Type field. Then click "Apply" and you should be all set.

WIN XP SP2 Help and Support Center

To surferdude2, thanks for the Help!!, I tried what you said to do,
Help and Support doesn`t show on the Services Applet List. I even checked
each one to see what it is , NO Help and Support found. I also went to the
Knowledge Base Search, it came up with KB 873158. That says Help and
Support Center does not run when the Data Execution Protection feature
is turned on in Win XP SP2. That did not work either.
    Again thanks for the Help

For clarity: There are two types of DEP, software only which came with SP2, and Hardware DEP.

The DEP referred to that disables Help & Support, if it does, is the Hardware type.

Windows XP SP2 Help and Support

    Hey Guys
Thanks for all of Your HELP, I found the way to Reinstall the Help and
Support. it goes as the following to Reinstall.
Click Start, Click Run and type CMD, and Click OK
In Command Prompt, type the following commands and Press Enter after
    each line:
    net stop helpsvc
    cd /d %windir%\pchealth\helpctr
    rd packagestore /s /q
    rd installedskus /s /q
    cd binaries
    start /w helpsvc /svchost netsvcs /regserver /install (SEE Note)
    start /w helpsvc /register

    NOTE The "start /w helpsvc /svhost netsvs /regserver /install "
Command Line REINSTALLS HELP and SUPPORT, which may take
    several Minutes

I Hope that this will Help someone that has the Same Problem, this is
    the CURE.
