First I tried to repair XP using XP disc, however some files were not able to be copied onto my computer. Then I tired to do a clean install, but instead of this, a second installation of XP was added. I have deleted the second OS from the partition and would like to do a clean install. This is a upgrade from windows 2000, I had followed the Paul Thurrott's link that Johanna supplied and there's an option listed that wasn't an available for me: "requires you to insert your previous Windows CD in order to verify that you qualify for the Upgrade version ".
    Please help me :)

FitzDawg - Welcome to the Board :)

I have split your post to a new thread to avoid confusion.

I understand from your post that you have attempted a repair install of XP which was originally installed as an upgrade to an existing W2k installation - is that correct?

If you wish to make a clean install, i.e. format the drive and install Windows XP from scratch you should boot from your XP CD and follow the instructions posted below. If your copy of XP is an upgrade CD at some stage in the installation process you will be asked to insert your W2k full install CD (not upgrade) to confirm you qualify to use the XP upgrade CD. A full copy of a Win 98 or Me installation CD should also suffice.

    Pete,
Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Yes, this is an upgrade from W2K. I plan on doing a clean install (the repair isn't working properly).
The last time I had done a clean install, it wiped out my driver(s) for the network adapter and I had no interent (CMD/ipconfig and no ip address was displayed).
If this propblem were to happen again, how can I replace the nessesary driver(s)?
If I have any issues with the clean install I will let you know.
    Thanks fro the help!

Windows XP should install the drivers for your network adaptor although they may be generic drivers. To be on the safe side go to the website of the card manufacturer and download any XP drivers which are available and burn them to CD before you make the clean install. If you have an installation CD for your card check to see if that contains XP drivers.

If you have downloaded XP drivers for any other specific piece of hardware in the past and have them saved to disk burn those to the CD too - saves downloading them again.
