Is there a way to clear the dropdown list box in the IE address bar without clearning the entire history file?

A simple way of doing this - rather than delving into the registry ....

Download CCleaner - uncheck everything that is checked by default leaving only 'Recently typed URL's' checked under Internet Explorer. Click Analyse, then Run Cleaner.

You're welcome :) but do be sure to check the settings prior to analysing otherwise there is a danger of cleaning out something that you wanted!

    ILGal--Another program to look at
    http://www.igorshpak.net/
It is a little more specific to deleting items you do not want. In other words, it does less than CCleaner.
But that means there is less chance to mess up.
I personally use it primarily to clean out my cache (Temporary Internet Files, etc.). I check only Temporary Files under both My Computer and Internet Explorer.
Hoewever you can check "Typed Addresses(URL's)" under the Internet Explorer column.

Yeah Jim, that program's a keeper. I downloaded it a long time ago. It was posted on this board and more than likely it was you that posted it though I can't say for sure. The thing I like about it is the ability to add certain folders or file types. Sweet!

I downloaded SSS a while back, but I never have installed it yet. Been using Disk Cleaner http://www.diskcleaner.nl/ for the most part.

Anyone ever compared the two before?
