When I try to disable my ethernet connection I get the following error: Cannot disconnect at this time as it maybe using one or more protocols that do not support plug and play or it may have been initiated by another user or the system account.

    I'm running Win 2K with a Linksys LNE100TX ver.5.1 card connected to a Linksys BEFSX41 router.

Are you running any web services (IIS, FTP), that may be causing your problems. Also just pull the cable then do a disable. Check your NIC properties you should only have 3 items listed. TCP/IP should be your only protocol.

I only have 3 items in NIC properties and the only protocol is TCP/IP.

I just found the culprit of my problem. It's my firewall (Sygate Pro 5.5). I rebooted without the firewall and I didn't have any problem enabling or disabling my connection. Now to figure out why the firewall is doing this and fix it.
