I'm a new member and have not read all the threads so I dont know if this has already been answered.

My PC has some serious spyware on it and everytime try to open IE it redirects me to some anti spyware page and I can not visit any other sites without this happening. In the address bar it says something like about:blank. I have some windows security bubbles that pop up and tell me my computer is jacked up so I'm thinking this could be the same as all the other members who have the security update problem, not sure though so I started a new thread. I've had this raid 0 array for about a year an a half an have had no problems with it and I dont have alot of data on it, i have a separate hard drive for storage.

I decided just try and run windows recovery console. When I go to run the recovery and boot from the CD, I hit
"R" for recovery and it takes me to what I believe is a DOS prompt. It has a
small general message about the recovery console and then says type exit to
reboot. Nothing else happens and it leaves with c:\> to type commands. I am not
too familiar with this area so I type c:\> enable recovery console. It then says
the registry entry for the recovery service cannot be located.

I need some help on either how to get rid of the spy ware or how to get windows recovery console working correct. Thank you.

    Hello PcJacked and welcome,

The RC is for those occasions when you can't boot into the OS. From your Post, it seems it is bootable, but can't use IE.

I'm assuming you're using another system to post here.

Download and scan with Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/

Install as a scanner only: under "Additional Options ", uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu" and before using it, update it. Post the log here, may need more than one post for it.

Download the HighjackThis .exe file to a folder of its own and run from there, then post the log: http://radiosplace.com/

    Regards - Charles

PcJacked - Welcome to the Board :)

The Recovery Console is an advanced tool to help you recover your system software if your Microsoft Windows XP-based computer does not start correctly or if it does not start at all. It is not a solution to viral infections or other related problems.

It is confusing I must admit, but there are two 'Press R for Repair' options if you boot from the installation CD - to Repair Windows you use the second option.

However that is unlikely to rid your computer of all infections which may be present - only a clean install can do that.

I will analyse it in the morning.

Fortunately there are other ways of dealing with hijacks, trojans, etc.

Download HijackThis through Quicklinks in my signature, save it to a folder on your hard drive, say C:\HJT - not to the desktop or a temporary location. Run HJT and select Do a System Scan and save a Logfile.

Copy and paste the contents of the log into your next post here.

    Hi PcJacked,

Taking a quick look, I see a lot of either corrupted or infected BHO files which have to be checked out, which I will do between now and the AM tommorrow.

In the meantime, if you will now do the following:

IE's tool bar > Tools > Manage Add-ons and click (highlight) on each BHO you see there and in the section below, tick Disable. Then see if IE works.

If you can post back right away, then we'll be that much ahead of the game.

    Regards - Charles

Yes, I disabled the one .bho that I saw along with two poker websites that weren't neccessary. My IE works now.

-Now that I went back and checked, there are many other .bho's, but I only disabled the one that stood out to me called winapi32.MyBHO and that worked. Should I still disable the rest?

    Ok, Good.

You got the bad one, you can leave rest.

We're not done yet. You have several malware programs running.

I'll be back tommorrow morning with instructions on removal.

Between now and then, download MoveOnBoot http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html which is an app to remove files that the System will not allow the user to remove. You have several malware files/executes in the \System32\ folder.

    Hi PcJacked,

Bring up HJT and fix the following:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000000-59D4-4008-9058-080011001200} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000000-C1EC-0345-6EC2-4D0300000000} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000000-F09C-02B4-6EC2-AD0300000000} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3ceff6cd-6f08-4e4d-bccd-ff7415288c3b} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {77701e16-9bfe-4b63-a5b4-7bd156758a37} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7b55bb05-0b4d-44fd-81a6-b136188f5deb} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8333c319-0669-4893-a418-f56d9249fca6} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9c691a33-7dda-4c2f-be4c-c176083f35cf} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {e52dedbb-d168-4bdb-b229-c48160800e81} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ffd2825e-0785-40c5-9a41-518f53a8261f} - (no file)

This will get rid of some clutter.

    Then end HJT.

    MoveOnBoot instructions:

It will add a new item to your right click Context Menu, target that file with Move on Boot, and then reboot.

Boot the system into safe mode: tap the F8 key on bootup.

    Target these files with MoveOnBoot:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\winapi32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\runsrv32.exe

After the reboot into normal mode:

Open HjackThis, scan and place a check mark next to any of the following that remain. Then press the "fix checked" button.

    O2 - BHO: winapi32.MyBHO - {AF79D4A2-725D-4627-9E34-08C04833D798} - H:\WINDOWS\system32\winapi32.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Transponder] C:\WINDOWS\system32\susp.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adware.Srv32] C:\WINDOWS\system32\runsrv32.exe

Then run another log and paste here.

You should also be able to run Ewido to completion now, so try that.

After you do all this, still have have to fix this:
    O23 - Service: Windows Logon (winlog) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\winlog.exe

    Regards - Charles

    Charles,

I'm at the Move on Boot instructions. Any time I try to open the system 32 folder I get a microsoft error with the "send error report" option. I tryed to just run a seach for these files and the same thing happens. Any other way to get to these files?

    Hi PcJacked,

Try it in normal mode and see what happens.

And try disabling this Service which is the result of a trojan:

    Start > run > type > services.msc > ok

This brings up the XP's Services page.

    Scroll down to Windows Logon

Right Click on the that line > Properties > Stop > change the Startup Type to Disabled > Apply. Then you're finished here.

If none of this works, I'll give you another program to try.

    Regards - Charles

-I was able to drag and drop into the move on boot program, what do I want to do copy, move, or delete?

Sorry, my fault, should have told you to right click on them.

Yes, choose delete on next bootup.

See of this execute is still there: C:\WINDOWS\winlog.exe

If it is then remove with MoveOnBoot and then go thru the instructions for shutting down the Windows Logon Service:

    Start > run > type > services.msc > ok

This brings up the XP's Services page.

    Scroll down to Windows Logon

Right Click on the that line > Properties > Stop > change the Startup Type to Disabled > Apply

Then in HJT, fix these items:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O2 - BHO: IEByteRange - {722D2939-A14A-41A9-9EAC-AB8F4E295819} - (no file)

    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - E:\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)

    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.net - {F4430FE8-2638-42e5-B849-800749B94EED} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker.net\partypokernet.exe (file missing)

    I don't see this: O23 - Service: Windows Logon (winlog) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\winlog.exe

If its there, have HJT fix it.

    Regards - Charles

The Ewido problem not running to completion:

Try uninstalling/re installing and see if that solves that problem.

I downloaded the avast antivirus free version. It got rid of some trojons and a few other things it detected. Ewido is working fine now and my pc seems to be back to normal.

About the windows login services, should I go back and enable that now?

Thank you very much for you time.
    Jake
