Does anyone know what files need to be copied/moved/exported in order to move a user's passcards and datacards to their new computer?

    Here's the situation:
The user installed Netscape 8.1 on his laptop. He now has to turn in his laptop and work on a workstation. He wants to import his passwords and auto-fill info to the workstation.

I have read elsewhere that there should be two files to move: signons.txt and key3.db - but could not locate them on the laptop?

Any help would be most appreciated!!
    :) Jodi

NS8.1 has a different format than Firefox. The two files which you mentioned are Firefox files. In the NS8.1 there is xxxx.r7u file, which, I think is you passcard file. But, I am not sure about anything in 8.1, which is barely alive.
I have participated in a number of newsgroups, and over time, I had different answers. considering that I uninstalled and reinstalled 8.1 seven times, creating a new profile every time, importing the settings from different programs, I do't have any idea, other than the .r7u file is present in the Netscape Browser profile, and this format is not back-convertible to any other file format.
But give it a shot, if it is from NS8.1 to 8.1.
Please let us know what happens.

    Westside,
Thanks for the quick response! I could not locate a file with the extension of .r7u on this user's laptop  . I did a file/document search as well as manually looked through the Netscape folders. Any other ideas?

    Thanks again!
    Jodi

The problem is that you do not give any information about your operating system. The files are not located in the Netscape Browser folder, but rather in the Netscape profile folder. Assuming that you have WinXP, and you don't know that such files are hidden, please look at this location: C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Netscape\NSB\Profiles and at this on how to see file/folders in WinXP

    Resolved!!

Whoa, sorry I didn't mention the OS - yes its XP

Hey, thanks for pointing me in the right direction though, here's what worked :) :

Just moving the .r7u file alone didn't do the trick, but I did find his datacards folder and the key3.db file under his profile Netscape folder -- moved them and WHOO HOO the datacards were restored!

Thank you, Westside, for your help and the quick responses.

    Jodi

Thank you for the information. This is the first time that anyone has given out the information. I, barely, use 8.1, and I have a grand total of one(1) passcard.
Interestingly the .r7u file has a lot of encrypted information, while there is nothing more, in the passcard folder, than a file, MyData.dat with nothing personal, and the key3.db file has nothing but encryption.
    Thanks a lot.
