Floppy disk controller error ?

I'm Running Winxp home, sp2.

Recently I was uploading some pictures using floppy disks. And the computer froze while it was loading the pictures via the windows picture viewer. So, I waited a while, and then just gave up and ejected the floppy disk. After that, I believe I restarted the computer and got everything back to what it was supposed to be. Well, I tried again, because I still had some pictures to upload; I put the disk in ,went to my comuter and then clicked the A:/ drive. Then got the "this disk needs formatted click yes or no to format disk" error. And I know for sure that this disk does indeed work; it works on my other computers fine, and even on my digital camera. So, I don't have a clue about what happened and what to do to get it back, so it can read disks properly. Tonight, I tried to troubleshoot it. I tried installing updated drivers for both the floppy disk drive and floppy disk drive controller. So, I did that, but still, i'm not sure if I correctly did that, or even if there are new drivers for those. Next, I tried again. Put the disk in then went to my computer; but got a different error. I got the " A:/ is not accessible The floppy disk controller reported an error that is not recognized by the floppy disk driver ". I have no Idea what happened. And don't know what to do from here.
