Lost Access Of Old Admin Folder In New Pc

    My m/b have died. I buy a new pc with windows xp preinstalled . I have full acces to my old disk but i cannot acces admin subfolder in documents and setting folder, so i cannot copy my favorites and outlook.pst file. Any Ideas ?

    Nikrod, you would have to take ownership of the old data so that you are able to access it. Search for "taking ownership of directory" in this forum.

    note this for xp pro ... if home, u'r on u'r own ;)

    from explorer, do:

    tools/folder options/view tab and see the 'simple file sharing' checkbox. uncheck it.

    then go to the top folder level of those u wish to 'take ownership' of. rclik and choose properties. then see the security tab and click the advanced button.

    then see the 'owner' tab. put u'r account in there and check the 'replace on sub containers' checkbox. hit OK
