bennien - Welcome to the Board :)

    Standard procedure is ....

Favourites > Add to Favourites and check 'Make available offline' just above the name of the Favoutite to be added.

For those sites already in your Favourites list right click on each > Make available offline.

  3. to hide this advert.

bennien--Here is the official MS procedure: Make Web Pages Available for Offline Viewing

You can also look in IE Help for more info.

However, there is one little step that MS does not tell you about.

In Windows Explorer, click Tools|FolderOptions and you may see a Offline Files tab. Click that and you may learn that you are blocked from creating Offline files. Thankfully you are also told how to get around the problem.
(If you do not see a message that you are blocked from saving Offline, then disregard the above paragraph. Also this may apply only to IE6 SP1.)

Personally, I never use Offline files. I rather click File|Save As|in the "Save as Type" line use the drop down arrow to save as Web Archive--.mht. The only disadvantage is that you cannot not access links from a saved .mht file unless you are indeed connected to the Internet.

P.S. I am sorry that I have been mysterious about what you may see in the Offline Files tab, but I cannot remember, and when you make the suggested changes, the Offline Files tab no longer shows the message. :)

bennien--I neglected to mention that I, too, have had very little luck in successfully creating files for Offline Viewing. (Every now and then I get one to work, but even then it eventually stops working--probably because I do not Synchronize enough.)
That is why I proposed the Save As .mht procedure. Did you try that?

P.S. Just to complete my post above, the mysterious message I mentioned earlier on the Offline Files tab is about Fast User Switching. If you use it, you cannot create files for Offline Viewing.
