Windows XP has recently started checkign the disk every time windows starts up, before i can log on. I've tried using system restore but it hasn't helped, how do i stop this as its getting pretty annoying?

    Thanx

Ok.......how about if you go ahead and stick a floppy in when it starts seeking?
And...........clean out all your temp files and reboot?
    *edit*
Any chance that it's your antivirus checking?

are you sure we're talking about the same thing here? This happenes before the log on screen appears, but its after windows boots, it says your disk needs to be checked for consistancy, and yes i've already wiped all my temp files

    Sorry for the misunderstanding. :(
When did this start happening? Any chance of using one of your restore points?
Have you run chkdsk and saw what errors it reported?
    Is your hard drive partitioned?
    Here's one possiblility?

    See my POST.

I never had another problem but I haven't run chkdsk again. :)

I have read where other people have the problem with chkdsk wanting to run every time they start their computer.

Many have had problems after running Chkdsk. Hopefully some day MS will correct.
