I have never come across this problem before, and didn't find any solution at my usual annoyances sites. When I open up explorer, the My Documents icon doesn't expand/drop down in the left pane to show the various folders I have in it. I don't see the plus or minus sign, even though there are plenty of folders in it. What can be done about this? I recently reinstalled and I guess things are going so well right now that this is the most pressing Windows problem I have. The My Documents icon sure expanded before I reinstalled.

For those who don't know what I mean, you can see the screenshot here.

What happens if you double-click My Documents or hilight it and tap 'enter'?
    This is a possible explanation.

Have you tried expanding My Computer>C(im assuming this is your hdd. where My Docs are)>Documents and Settings>Owner>Owner's Documents.

(Im using Owner for your user name.)

When I highlight My Docs and double-click or hit enter, nothing happens. As far as the link to Kelly's Korner is concerned, I do have an HP scanner and I've seen that icon (for Share-to-Web) on my computer before. I did go to Kelly's Korner and applied the script. No change, but I'll see what happens after I reboot.

Funny thing is, when I click on a folder in My Docs, then My Docs will expand in the left pane, but as soon as I close that window, its back to teh same old tricks. Like I said, I'll see what happens after a reboot.

    Thanks to you both.

In Windows Explorer, rt click on the My Documents folder and scroll down to properties. Make sure the target path is correct (should be the path I gave you in my earlier post).

Here is a place that may be of some help. You can make explorer open to any place you want.

I have had problems with this on other's computers and don't remember the solution. Especially the one where explorer opens and the "folders" button on the toolbar would not stay selected with each opening.

I continue to search for the answer....

Thanks Bmoore for the link. Using the info in that link, I created my own desktop shortcut with Explorer focused on My Documents. It gives me My Docs opened up, but in the left pane, My Docs is still not expanded--nor does it have the plus/minus sign, etc. Very very strange. Nor has the fix from Kelly's Korner worked, either. Oh well hey if this is the worst problem I have on my computer, I got it made, but still....
