I have a Presario on which the Primary HD has 2 partitions. The normal C partition is in NTFS while a backup partition D is in FAT32. The D partition is used for backup since these computers do not come with a XP CD.
I want to backup using Ghost and I have a puzzle. I could backup the whole disk, both partitions at once, or back up each partition separately. The purpose of my bacup is to restore the system to a new HD should I ever need one.
If I backed up the whole disk, and then tried to restore on a new HD, would the C and D partitions be restored as NTFS and FAT32?
If I backup separately, could I restore both on a new HD as NTFS and FAT32?
Any answers, suggestions or experience would be appreciated.

    yes to both questions.

I never backup (clone) the entire disks, I ghost partitions separately. It's faster, smaller .img files, etc.

However, your Presario fat32 partition may not be large enough to hold more than 1 image, usually these oem partitions are just small enough to hold the restore files (basic os install and a few 3rd party apps only).

I don't understand what your second sentence has to do with making an image of the FAT32 D-partition?
