When I start the computer, the moniter doesn't turn on. I have to turn it off with the switch quite a few times before the moniter turns on. I scanned with Trend Micro, but it didn't erase some of the grayware.

Your problem sounds more like a hardware problem (the monitor), nevertheless you have quite a few adware infections so use HjT to Fix:

Your monitor problem is certainly hardware related. Is this a desktop or laptop - I am assuming a desktop.

Is the monitor plugged into a separate power supply - general case. If so does the monitor turn on when you press the power button, i.e does the power light come on?

If it does not, or you need to press the power button several times it looks like the power switch may be dirty or broken.

If the monitor is powering up, but nothing appears when you boot up the computer check the connections between the monitor and the video card - remove them and replace them. The cable could be faulty.

If the connections seem to be OK open up the case - computer powered down, and remove the video card, clean the contacts with a soft pencil eraser and refit. Connect up the monitor and reboot. Does this solve the problem?

Even if your video drivers are corrupted Windows should load the default drivers.

If you have access to another monitor try that - if it works, your monitor has a problem.

It is a laptop. When I turn the computer on, nothing comes on the monitor. The HD light only blinks for a second, then nothin at all.

Are you running on battery power or mains? First thought is a flat battery, but if it does the same when on mains power it could be the power switch.

Some laptops will run with the battery removed when connected to mains power - have you tried this? It is possible that a shot battery is preventing the power getting through from the mains to the computer.

On the other hand the hard drive may have failed - see if it will boot up from a Windows Startup disk - assuming that the laptop has a floppy drive.

I have moved your thread to the Hardware forum.
