I am staying at a Marriott hotel in the Republic of Georgia and trying to connect to the hotel’s WIFI hotspot sponsored by Global Airnet Aktengesellschaft. My laptop is a Compaq. I am running on Windows XP using a Belkin wireless G Plus Notebook Card.

When I try to open up internet explorer and enter the hotel’s system I get the following error message:

Run a dll as an app has encountered a problem and has to close. Sorry, etc.

Then my computer reboots. If I do not remove the wireless card it just keeps rebooting. I’ve used this set up in Africa and across the US with no problem. Can you help me troubleshoot? The hotel IT guru says it’s a problem with Windows and if I reinstall Windows on my laptop it will be fixed. But I don’t have that stuff with me….it’s back at home.

Can you help me? Is this really a windows problem? I’m going to be here another couple of weeks and would sure like to get back online.

Thanks for any help you can give.

The Sorry, etc. is what we need if we want to try & pin this down.

We need as much error information as possible.

Also see if you can find more info from your Event Viewer Logs.

The sorry is the standard language, something like "windows will have to close down" and then the computer reboots.

I'll check both again and repost what I find. I did look at the even viewer log but didn't understand it....it's a little beyond my skill level.

Thanks for your help. I'll check back in when I can get on line again.

In the Control Panel> System> Advanced> Start Up & Recovery Settings turn off the auto reboot. Write down any error messages you get.

I turned off autoreboot; ran drwtsn

I turned off autoreboot and got the following error message:

STOP: c000021a [Fatal System Error] The Windows login process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

I also tried to run the Microsoft debug and debugwiz but couldn't convince Dr. Watson to give me a "user.dmp" file.

    Thanks again for your help.
