there are four machines in this network 3 see each other just fine 1 does not.

machine a - dell poweredge with xp pro - main machine
machine b - dell poweredge with xp pro
    machine c - old p2 with 98
    machine d - old p2 thinkpad with win2k

machine a b and c see each other just fine can access files etc.

machine d - cannot see any other machines nor can the other machine see it. keep getting invalid path or permissions error.

every thing is correct on machine d - workgroup, etc all match what it should be.

moved machine d to different rj45 connector still same problem not seeing the network but it does have access to the web and network printer.

any ideas ??? am leaning toward the win2k being wacked out cuz every thing is configured correctly.

Sounds like a name resolution problem then. Can you ping by name:

    PING Computername

How is PC d getting it's IP? DHCP or statically assigned? If it is statically assigned the problem may be that you have not set up the correct DNS address.
