Dial up modem connection problem

    I am trying to install a Motorola 3456 ISA MS dial up modem. The modem starts dialling, verifies password, then disconnects. Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks:confused:

    phones & answering machines

    some some modems require a phone to be connected to the other port in the modem. while others require just the opposite. and some answering machines can interfere with the dialing process if plugged into the port on the back of the modem. be sure to check local dialing procedures for your area and seek the information given to you by you isp.
