Most times when I try to open up a page, Mainly (but not limited to) email (i.e. like Lycos, or Bellsouth and a host of other), The page will start to load and disappear right in front of my eyes, It doesn’t matter if I click from my "favorites" or manually type it in, I have tried to "un" and reinstall java, And the same with IE6 from my control panel, Nothing works,..Any help will definitely be appreciated!!!!, I am using WindowsXP Pro, Internet Explorer 6, P-4 1.6 MHz, 512meg Ram, DSL connection w/Linksys router

    Hi kq4uv
    Welcome to the boards!
Look for a file called HOSTS (and only HOSTS, not HOSTS.SAM) in your C:\Windows directory. If it exists, rename it to something else (eg HOSTS.OLD) and try again.

Hi!, "¦.And Thank You very much,.

Well unfortunately there is no folder with that name on it, But now I found another problem, That I’m not sure if it’s related, On my "Start/accessories/System Tools….The "System Information" AND! The "System Restore" does the same thing, Starts to come up, then "POOF" disappears!!!, Ohh lucky me….So now I’m not so sure it’s strictly a IE6 thing, Netscape doesn’t have a problem….so far.

    Thank You

Can you get to Windows Updates and see if you have all your critical updates installed?

Run this, download and run this and this and, finally, visit this page.

EDIT: I assume that you're not running any sort of popup stopper/web filter?

Something terribly odd is happening here? It's no longer an internet problem, so much as it's a windows one?
Have you checked your device manager for those lovely yellow exclamation marks?
Go to run.....type msconfig ......click ok..and look under the start up tab.
Check the two links in this post to see what should be checked and what can safely be unchecked.
