I am running a Windows 2003 Server network with a network attached storage unit that we put our shared files on. I can access the shared files from most of my computers on the domain but there are a few that have WINXP Pro that I cant. Some of the the XP computers can access them but the only ones that cant are XP. I am thinking that it might be something with the local security settings but I am not sure. The error I am getting is:

\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have permissions.
    The request is not supported.

All the users have permissions and can acces the files from other computers just these few that are nont able to get to the shares. Any assistance would be helpful.

I have seen this before, try the following. Map the share via command prompt. The syntax would be something like this [syntax] Net Use s: \\servername\share [/syntax], if this still doesn't work try this [syntax] Net Use s: \\servername\share /u:servername\userwithadminrightstoserver [/syntax]
the next prompt will ask for the password, enter the servers admin password and hit enter. If it still doesn't work there is one spot in the registry that might need to be changed. go to regedit and hklm-system-current control set-control-lsa and find the forceguest reg key, it should be set to "0 ", if it's "1" change it and reboot. Let me know how it goes.

Yea, try using the computers ip address instead of the computer name to map the drives.

hmm. . . have you tried taking the computer off the domain completely and putting it back on?

Does the Network Attached Storage (NAS) unit know about the Active Directory? Are you setting up the NAS to use the Active Directory users, or have you set up accounts for each user? Are you using anonymous access? What make of NAS unit?

The device is a NetApp FAS 250. I know that you run what's referred to a CIFSsetup. It adds the device to an active directory domain, and pulls all permissions and the like. The wierd thing is that most users can access this. I know there's a specific O/S load, and it's got a ton of extra security tweaks on it. I'm thinking that's the problem, but I can't rule it out for sure.

What other OS besides XP Pro are you using?

Are all PCs members of the Domain and logging on with a Domain User account?
