    Hi,
My daughter has a Compaq nX7000 laptop running Windows XP that she uses for her job.

When we right click the desktop, and click properties, she only gets the Theme Window where she has a down arrow that she can change to Windows XP, or Windows Classic, etc.

When she changes to one of them, such as Windows XP, and clicks APPLY, she then gets the Display Properties window that will allow her to choose the tabs, Themes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, Settings. Then we are able to change the Screen Saver, or other settings and click OK.

But, when we go back to the Display Properties again, it only shows the Themes Page and not the other tabs.

Is there any way we can fix this annoying problem so we can view all the settings each and every time.

    Thank you for your help.

    Jean

Try the 'Restore all display tabs' fix at Kelly's Korner - line 285, right hand column.

    Hi Pete,

Thanks for trying to help me. I did run the "Restore all Display Tabs" as suggested but still when I open the Display Properties I still do not get all the tabs showing.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

Try updating the video card drivers.
This issue is known to happen on oders pc's that upgrade from win98. Wouldn't hurt to update the drivers.

Unfortunately, my daughter had to return to Chicago today and as hard as we tried to fix her display properties window, nothing worked.

We did talk to HP about the problem but they wouldn't help as the warranty has expired.

It is OK though as she at least know now that she just has to change the theme if she wants to get the tabs. Then it reverts back the next time she tried to open display properties.

Thanks for your help, at least we gave it a shot.
