    Hello
I am looking for an on demand remote software like NetOp On Demand Remote Control. I run a consulting company and need be able to access the clients machine for tech support. I have been using vnc or rdp. But firewall setup and software install issues make this less than desirable.
As my client numbers grow I would like an on demand solution but I don't want to invest a ton of money right now.
Hoping that I could get some ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

Not free but network streaming is quite good.

NetOP is splendid, and my prefered remote desktop solution. However, XP's in-build desktop sharing utility works well too. And as it's part of the OS, it's free! It works better than VNC in my experience, though VNC still remains in my toolbox as a valuble quick fix - especially for non-XP systems or where the encryption in TightVNC is required.

The Gotomypc stuff is quite over priced but it slips right through firewalls without ports being forwarded.

    Thanks

Good choices. Has anyone tried Ultravnc sc?
I landed on this and it seems to do what I need so far.

I haven't. I use TightVNC as my current VNC implementation.

However, I've just looked at the ultravnc website. It looks interesting, especially having file transfer built in (that's something I miss when not using NetOp). Does it handle clipboard transfer? That something that both NetOp and XP's desktop sharing do well and is invaluble when doing a quick tweak of a remote system.

Nice to hear about a new tool!

I have a bit in the past when I was having trouble with RD. Nice software, works well, but I'm back to using Windows RD... it does all what I need.

    RD vs Ultravnc sc

I use rdp as well. But when I need to help a client and show the client the desktop while tutoring him/her I now use the vnc sc.
    Thanks

Don't ask me how, But my IT guy configured UltaVCN to where a client can grab a small file off our web site. (no istallation required on their end) They then double click on it and select which person in my office they want to connect to. We then get a pop up to allow the connection. Boom - all connected with file transfer capibilities and remote desktop connection.

Good point. VNC is good if you want to show a user how to do something.

One problem I have managing a 2003 server via remote desktop (basically single license terminal server) is you don't see the current main desktop, so you can miss error messages. Also I need to keep a legacy application going on my main server, and I have to remember that it only appears in one of my sessions. However, I'm willing to put up with that. Within a network, Windows remote desktop/terminal service is splendid.

I'm going to have to take a closer look! Too many network apps, not enough time.

It's pretty cool what my IT guy did. When the client launches the app, it has our company logo. If they click the about button, it takes them to our web site...
