I'm using XP Pro and IE7. As a result of reinstalling Office 2003, I'm now getting Error 404 Page Not Found. I went to the MS support page and it said to upgrade to IE6, with Service Pack 1, and then make some changes in the registry. The problem is, I'm already using IE7, MS' beta product. Do I have to uninstall 7 and reinstall 6? If so, how do I go about it? I'm not all that knowledgable, so please go easy on me.

Thank you in advance for any help you send my way.

Thanks everybody. I was able to uninstall IE7 successfully. However, I still have the same Error 404 Page Not Found problem, even though I'm now using IE6 with SP2, and even though I went into the Registry and made the changes suggested by MS. Any suggestions?

    Charles,

I followed the links and everything I read tells me that this was a glitch in SP1 that was fixed in SP2, which I'm running. I even tried to download a file that fixed the problem in SP1, but it wouldn't let me install it because I'm using SP2.

Also, I think this is a Windows problem, not an IE problem because I get the same error when I use Firefox. The most frustrating part of this problem is I run a home-based business, and this glitch is happening on the website I use the most.

    Hi Jim,

For what its worth, I would uninstall those MS updates that occured on 4/12, and see what happens. One of those patches was a IE cumulative.

You write that the installation of Office2003 percipated the problem, another option would be to uninstall it and revert to an earlier version.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 is this the MS kb article that you referred to in your first post?

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm a better writeup on repair

http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=53440 the patches that were part of MS update.

    Regards - Charles
