can't install wireless router

Im really not in a good mood over this today, I bought a wireless router that, even though I told the guy in the shop I had a USB modem for tiscali, doesnt have a usb port on it. I took the router back and got my morey back and went elsewhere, I bought a Linksys Wireless -G adsl gateway because the guy in pc world assured me i didnt need my usb modem as the router has one in built, so yeah ok I thought and took it home.
I have tried installing the router but it just keeps telling me it cant find the connection to the internet so cant install itself. The instructions that come with it dont match what happens and dont match those on the set up disk either,
Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong or if i have the wrong router agasin.

yeah got intouch with their online help and as you can see im online and its through my new router so i must have done something right lol

though i didnt understand why when i got a 2 meg connection he said the routers only do 100mbps
