attachments [Delivered to deleted items folder]

Hi
I have Outlook Express 6 configured to allow attachments and images so could someone please tell me why when i sent myself an attachment as a test that the attachment ended up in the Deleted Items folder? I am running Windows XP Home Edition and SP2. Thanks in advance. Daunted

What's happening to you is the same as if you have your email on the Blocked sender list. A blocked sender's mail will always end up in the Delete Folder. Suggest you check this section to see what is blocked from there.

I have made certain that there are no check marks opposite either of:

1) Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus.

2) Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail.

There are no message rules, new rules or blocked senders. Everything is clear!
Yet i still cannot send or receive attachments? Daunted

 

Daunted--I am still not clear whether the entire email message or just the attachment is being directed to your Deleted Items box. This is similar to Steve R Jones' earlier question.

 

I would try doing a SFC. Might be something corrupt in the OE. If that is so, a SFC would more than likely cure that.

I have checked and rechecked but there is nothing in the deleted items folder. I nolonger have any message rules or blocked senders. Everything has been cleared. Sorry about this Mudd but could you please educate a poor valley boy and tell him what you mean by 'SFC'? Thanks Daunted

 

It is a "System File Check." A procedure to insure that all the drivers and other necessary things in Windows are present.

You will need the Windows Disk if you have one. If not, hopefully the people that put your PC together has directed the sfc to check against the proper file in the PC.

Get started by clicking, RUN, then type "sfc /scannow" without the quotation marks. Click OK. If a window comes up asking for your Windows CD, put in it if you have it. If not come back and someone will assist you. I have to leave for now. Will check your post when I return.

Be sure you make the space shown before the /.

 

This statement from your first post seems to contradict this one from your last post.

Can you clarify this?

Does the email arrive without the attachment and theirs nothing in the deleted items folder? Or, does the email arrive with the attachment and the entire email ends up in the deleted items folder? It's still not really clear to me what you are trying to say the problem is.

I have tried before to do a System File Check but failed because the manufacturer of my pc didn't provide the Windows disc. Everything was pre-installed prior to delivery.
Sorry if i have caused any confusion. But when i check the Deleted Items folder it is empty, nothing there. I did at one time have message rules in place and an active blocked senders list running in order to combat spam but have cleared it all in order to try and resolve my problem of not being able to send or receive any atachments. Thanks Daunted

 

Daunted--So is mail with attachments getting through to your Inbox now? Or are attachments being stripped off, or what? If the latter and you know the name of the attachment, run a Search on that file's name to learn where it is going.

 

Also, check your antivirus and firewall programs. Maybe one of them has some type of feature that could cause this.

First of all i would like to apologise for being so slow to reply but i have been having problems with my keyboard and was blaming the batteries only to find out it was a bad connection between the batteries and keyboard.
All my mail is getting through but no attachments. I run free versions of ZoneAlarm and AVG anti-virus. Shall have a look at both but not hopeful of finding anything. Daunted
